Anthropic closes $65B and nears a $1T valuation, on the same day it ships a new model.
Anthropic closed a $65B Series H at a $965B post-money valuation, co-led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, Sequoia, Capital Group, Coatue, and D1 Capital Partners, among others. Strategic participants include Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron.
The round comes the same day Anthropic released Claude Opus 4.8, with new agentic capabilities and a stronger focus on honesty and self-correction. Run rate revenue has crossed $47B, and the company expects its first operating profit this quarter. This is almost certainly its last private raise before an IPO.

Funding news that matters this week
Cognition. AI software engineering platform behind Devin, the autonomous coding agent used by Mercedes-Benz, NASA, Goldman Sachs, and Santander. Raised $1B at a $25B pre-money valuation led by Lux Capital and General Catalyst, with Founders Fund, 8VC, Ribbit Capital, and others participating. Annualized revenue has reached $492M, with enterprise usage growing 50% month over month for six consecutive months.
Airwallex. Global payments and financial platform serving 150,000+ businesses across 50+ markets. Raised new funding at around a $12B valuation led by Lee Fixel's Addition, with the company also hitting $1.5B in annualized recurring revenue.
OpenRouter. AI gateway platform giving enterprises access to 400+ models including Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and xAI. Raised $113M Series B led by CapitalG, with usage growing 5x in six months to 100 trillion tokens per month and a new valuation of roughly $1.3B post-money.
WeRoad. Group travel platform designed for younger travelers around shared interests, with 300,000+ customers and €130M in 2025 revenue. Raised $58M Series C led by Airbnb, bringing total funding to ~$100M, as the Milan-based startup prepares for its first US launch in Austin.
Corgi. Business insurance startup offering general liability, cyber, and AI liability coverage, backed by Y Combinator. Raised $160M Series B led by TCV at a $1.3B valuation, just four months after closing its $108M Series A.

Where capital is flowing and what that means for founders
AI's real bottleneck isn't compute. It's memory. South Korean chip startup XCENA raised $135M Series B at a $570M valuation, designing chips that place compute directly inside DRAM, eliminating the costly data round-trips between CPUs, GPUs, and memory that slow down every AI inference request. The company claims what used to require 10 servers could run on just one. Mass production is slated for Samsung's foundry lines by end of 2026.
Venture capital is moving into the physical world. Convective Capital closed an $85M fund backed by insurers and asset managers to invest in disaster resilience technology, broadening from its original fire-tech focus. Its first fund produced companies worth a collective $2B. Meanwhile, TMV launched a $200M maritime and logistics fund anchored by the American Bureau of Shipping and Prologis Ventures, targeting pre-seed through Series A startups rebuilding global maritime and port infrastructure.
A former a16z partner is betting on AI's second-order effects. Former Andreessen Horowitz partner Michele Griffin joined Lightning Capital to lead a new $100M early-stage Fund II, targeting Seed and Series A companies building for what she calls "AI ripple effects," startups benefiting from AI deployment reshaping industries, infrastructure, and work rather than those building the models themselves.
